Dear Church Family!

Thank you for your generous book donations!!!! I just wanted to let everyone know about what has happened since i sent out he first email last week!!

Big Brothers, Big Sisters donated approx 75 backpacks full of school supplies as well some puzzles and some board games!
Poolville and Peaster ISD both donated several boxes of books from their elem and JH libraries!
Several members from the church have given many new and used books!

Thanks to everyone who has helped. The response has been overwhelming. Urban Connection will be blessed immensely because of you. 

We will continue to accept donations until June 22. As of now we probably have 15 boxes of books.
We will gladly accept more book donations, but if you would like to donate something different -- they could also use arts and craft supplies, sports balls, board / card games, or activity books (coloring, dot-to-dot, crossword, word find, etc.).

Thanks! Ya'll are awesome! Thanks for letting your light shine and for being a blessing to inner city kids in San Antonio!

This sunday after am services we will load up in the vans and head to the cooper's for our end of year bash. Bring your swimsuit, $2 and your appetite! We will return back to the church between 3:30 pm - 4 pm! I believe Jeff has scheduled an appearance by the infamous Tom "Kirby"!

Most of you probably know that in about a month the youth group will be traveling to inner city San Antonio for our mission trip to Urban Connection. Last year when we went, one of the needs we all saw was the lack of quality books for the kids. They had a fair amount of books, but when the kids would bring them to you to read - many were in terrible shape. One of the favorite books of the boys was a picture book from a batman movie.  It was missing several pages and had red crayon strewn throughout the book, but they loved it!   Several of their books had ripped out pages, or they had been written on and colored in. Many were coming unglued. They only have what has been given to them. I am writing to see if you would look through your used books at home and donate some of your gently used kids books to the kids at Urban. I think it would be a great way for our Church to be even more involved in the efforts of the youth group to impact these kids. If you have any gently used books you would like to donate, it would be greatly appreciated! If you don't have any used books and would like to purchase new books to donate, we will accept those also! : ) The kids range in age from kindergarten through eighth grade. They are expecting to service 75-100 kids per day in the summer. The kids have to read 30 minutes each day, so it is a donation that would definitely be utilized!
 
If you want to do something a tad different, they could also use coloring books, word search books, dot-to-dots, etc.
 
You can put the books in my office, and we will be accepting book donations until Wednesday, June 22. Thanks for helping us spruce up the library at Urban Connection!!  We love ya'll!

• The Seniors are: MA Dial, Jordan Bumgarner, Alex Taliaferro, Michael Lunsford, Sammie Duff, Zac Wilson, Sawyer Cooper and Katie Cox - If i overlooked anyone - please let me know!!!
• Senior Sunday will take place on May 15th
• On Saturday evening (the 14th) @ 6, parents and seniors may come up to the building and set up a table in the foyer displaying portraits, awards, memorabilia, certificates of authenticity, passport photos, 1st grade handwriting samples, embarassing pictures, etc. : )
• I need from each senior an email depicting exactly how they want their name on their Bible - first, middle, last - first and last - first initial and last name  -- Make sure you send me the spelling of your name so it appears correctly on the bible you will receive!!! Please get his to me ASAP so I can order the bibles.Thanks!!!
• We will eat following A.M. services. We will be doing the lunch a little different this year - We are going to have an all church luncheon, much like our wednesday night meals. We will be having Mexican stack up and the whole church will be invited. The Seniors and their families will have reserved seats.
• Make sure you get your pictures (and a song, if you have one) to me for the slideshow ASAP
• Underclassmen - We will help refill glasses, and serve in the kitchen!!! We will also help with food prep and clean-up after the meal!!!

• Seniors - please start rounding up your pictures for the senior sunday slideshow and get them to me!! I'll be sending out some more details about how senior sunday will happen next week!
• Remember to be completing your mission trip requirements!! Don't wait til the last minute!!!!! I will be sending out some info about the planning dates for mission trip shortly!

1.First off, i'm not trying to be wishy-washy,  but I'm going to be wishy-washy -  we are going to scrap the last-minute idea I mentioned yesterday in class about going to the Saginaw Rodeo for Church this Sunday. After looking at the upcoming calendar, I feel like we need to meet together as one body this Sunday. The calendar gets a little crazy the next few weeks. (on March 6, John Jewell will be here and we may have several out the next two weekends that surround spring break). I also believe the message David has prepared for Sunday will be an important message for us, and it will address some of the conversations we have had in and out of class about how the Holy Spirit works in our lives today.  Not to mention, there is a chance of rain on Sunday. There is my dissertation as to why i have decided to change my stance - I hope that is okay with everyone!! : ) D'ann, Katie, and Kayla - Have fun w/o us and tell Bill we said Hi. Let me know if the opportunity arises again!

2. HS ONLY - LCU TRIP rescheduled for March 6-7 - Bring $ for 2 fast food meals! We will leave Sunday after church and return Monday evening - Send me an email if you plan to go so i can get a count! Thanks
